The closely grouped faces and gently turning bodies create an intimate composition, while the saturated colour gives this classical subject the immediacy of a painted city wall.
PichiAvo formed in Valencia in 2007 after meeting through the city’s graffiti scene. Trained in fine art and design, the duo have developed a shared practice that brings Greek mythology and classical sculpture into contemporary urban settings. Here, their treatment of the Three Graces gives familiar historical imagery a fresh physical presence: carefully rendered curls, profiles, and gestures remain visible beneath loose marks and trails of paint.
Released through Lisbon’s Underdogs in 2021, the print belongs to the artists’ continuing exploration of mythological subjects under the Orphic Hymn title. Produced as a giclée on 310 gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White cotton paper, it measures 65 × 85 cm and comes from an edition of 150, with 15 artist’s proofs, signed and numbered by the artists.
