A horizontal field of muted red dominates the composition, set against a pale ground and accented with subtle gestures of green, black, and yellow. The result is an atmospheric canvas that recalls both the expansive color fields of Rothko and the lyrical sensibility of Kenzo Okada, while remaining firmly rooted in Yokoi’s own vision. The work belongs to a series of abstracted landscapes inspired by the artist’s memories of Tsushima, Japan, where childhood walks along the riverbank left lasting impressions. This painting exemplifies her early exploration of space and color as vehicles for emotion, establishing the balance of cultural influences that would define her career.Provenance
