Paris Studio: Work and Continuity
Teruko Yokoi in her Paris studio, c. 1960. During this period, Yokoi maintained studios in both New York and Paris, moving between the two while developing a cohesive body of work. In Paris, she lived and worked while raising her young daughter, Kayo, adapting her practice to the constraints of a more limited domestic space while sustaining an active exhibition schedule that included presentations in New York, Tokyo, and Europe.
Works associated with untitled presentation shown in The Mysterious Sign were developed across both locations, reflecting a practice shaped by geographically fluid movement, continuity, and sustained inquiry. Across these conditions, Teruko maintained a consistent focus, allowing her work to evolve under pressure rather than pause.
